The Berwick Anti-Drug Alliance (BADA) was established in December 2011. The BADA is a community- based, citizen-driven group, providing resources to address an ongoing problem.
We recognize that substance abuse can destroy individual lives, families and communities. We recognize that substance abuse can be found in every city and town in Pennsylvania and our community is not unique in that respect.
Our goals are to raise awareness of mental health, substance abuse and addiction, to identify community/regional resources, and to provide hope. [Berwick Police Department, Beyond Violence, CMSU, Drug Court, AGAPE, Berwick Crime Watch, Berwick Hospital Emergency Room Director, Regional treatment facilities (Gaudenzia, Wyoming Valley Treatment, Salvation Army), Reformers Unanimous Addiction Program.]
Our intent is to address the incidence of substance abuse through education and prevention, media strategies, conferences and special events.
We are not a treatment program but will serve as a resource group for individuals and families in need of treatment. Networking opportunities -- - person to person communications -- - are possibly the most important aspect of our program.
The BADA meets the 2nd Monday of each month. Meetings are from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm McBride Memorial Library.
